Switch to a Gentle Cleanser
Foaming cleansers and soaps can strip the skin of its natural oils. Opt for a cream-based or oil-based cleanser to keep your skin’s barrier intact and prevent over-drying.
Hydrate Inside and Out
The winter air is drier, which means your skin loses moisture more quickly. Combat this by:
Drinking plenty of water throughout the day.
Using a humidifier at home to add moisture to the air.
Applying a hydrating serum with ingredients like hyaluronic acid to lock in moisture.
Exfoliate Wisely
Dry winter skin can lead to flakiness, but over-exfoliating will worsen the problem. Use a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week to remove dead skin cells without compromising your skin’s barrier.
Moisturize Strategically
Layering your products correctly can make a world of difference. After cleansing:
Apply a toner or essence to prep your skin.
Use a serum tailored to your skin’s needs.
Seal it all in with a thick, nourishing moisturizer. Look for ingredients like ceramides, shea butter, or squalane.
Experiment with "slugging"—applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly or an occlusive balm as the final step to lock in moisture overnight.
Treat Yourself to Weekly Masks
Pamper your skin with hydrating and soothing face masks. Look for masks with ingredients like aloe vera, honey, or oatmeal to calm irritation and replenish moisture. For a DIY approach:
Blend ripe avocado with a spoonful of honey for a deeply hydrating mask.
Mix plain yogurt with turmeric for brightening and soothing benefits.
Incorporate Regular Facials
Facials can help boost your skin’s hydration, improve circulation, and address specific concerns like dullness or dryness. Opt for facials that include hydrating masks, gentle exfoliation, and massage to enhance skin vitality. In my practice, I use Mesoporation with cryo and heat therapies to deeply penetrate active ingredients into the skin and then reduce redness and calm and sooth. The ampoule serums are customized: Acne, hydration, lifting, calming & nourishing.
